EHang Forms Partnership for Electric Air Taxi Production in China with JAC Motors (X @ehang)
The Chinese air taxi company EHang has partnered with JAC Motors and Guoxian Holdings to build the first factory for its electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle (eVTOL).
The complex will be located in Hefei, China, with the goal of standardizing essential components and driving the low-altitude economy. This initiative is part of a larger effort to transform the city into an industrial hub for this sector, with support from the local government and the creation of vertiports.
The partnership aims to integrate existing supply chains and expand the eVTOL industry in the region. In 2024, EHang received authorization from the Civil Aviation Administration of China to operate its unmanned air taxis commercially, marking a significant advancement for the sector. According to the president of JAC Motors, the collaboration aims to strengthen emerging industries and accelerate urban air mobility growth.
In addition to the progress in China, EHang successfully completed the first urban flight of an unmanned eVTOL in Europe. The test took place in Benidorm, Spain, with the EH216-S model, accompanied by 12 drones and supervised by the air navigation company Enaire, in accordance with European Union Aviation Safety Agency standards.
The company continues to expand its operations, negotiating with local governments to develop infrastructure, train professionals, and increase production capacity for the new technology.
